On the 29th of November 2024, the National Department of Tourism, in collaboration with the Free State Department of Economic Development and Tourism and Ngwathe Local Municipality, held a tourism stakeholder engagement session @ S.S. Paki Secondary School in Mokwallo, Vredefort.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Makhotso Sotyu, MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Ketso Makume together with Ngwathe Executive Mayor, Cllr. Veronica De Beer conducted an oversight visit at Vredefort Dome–tourism establishment connecting both the North West and Free State province.

Vrede Dome is the largest and deeply eroded complex meteorite impact structure in the world. It contains high quality and accessible geological (outcrop) sites which demonstrate a range of geological evidence of a complex meteorite impact structure.
