On the 06th of November 2025, MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Ketso Makume officially launched the Free State Summer Campaign @ the heartbeat of the Free State Tourism potential, majestic location–Gariep Dam.
MEC indicated that tourism is more than leisure but a livelihood.

He further explaied that this summer campaign is aimed at reigniting tourism activities across the province to position the Free State as a safe, affordable, and family-friendly destination.

MEC concluded that the goal is to boost visitors’ numbers to free state tourism attractions, routes, and hospitality establishments while fostering inclusive participation across the tourism value chain.
