On the 24th & 25th of March 2026, the Free State Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDT) participated at the One National Plan workshop in Bloemfontein, BON Hotel.
The workshop was hosted by the National Department of Small Business Development in partnership with the DEDT, Office of the Premier, academic institutions and Development Finance Institutions.
The National Department of Small Business Development intends to develop a One National Plan for the MSME Ecosystem, an integrated multi-stakeholder strategy that will align interventions, policies programmes and catalytic projects across all spheres of government and broader ecosystem.
Objectives of the consultation workshop was to, identify sector priorities and opportunities to accelerate MSME growth across primary, secondary and tertiary sectors and to establish a common national vision and framework for an integrated MSME support ecosystem.
The DEDT made a presentation that aligned with the National Department of Economic Development’s One National Plan prime concerns, it focused on the Province’s priorities sectors such as manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and logistics to mention but a few. Furthermore, the presentation touched on sustainable job creation and economic growth of the province.
